a bit About me
I like to say that making is my therapy. It grounds me, gets me in the moment, challenges me to not give up, shows me to be humble and teaches me how to handle mistakes and failure. It also lets me celebrate wins, makes me feel powerful, allows me to create my own little world and gives me a sense of both control and freedom. Making got me through difficult times in my life and has brought me some of the best experiences I could ever imagine. It is a constant companion that will always be there for me, no matter how long it’s been.
A big part of my drive is to learn new things. To figure out how something works and how the parts come together. As a result, I experiment with all sorts of crafts and skills. An added bonus is that this allows me to draw similarities. For example, did you know that using a power hammer to forge steel is surprisingly similar to using a sewing machine? I love those little realizations that a skill is transferable and that the basic components of any craft are exactly the same. It just heightens my feeling that anyone can learn any skill, no matter their age, gender or background.
